Resin Flooring for Food & Beverage Production
Food and beverage production places significant demands on flooring.
Regular wash-downs, cleaning chemicals, food and drink spillages, hot and cold processes, pallet trucks, trolleys and production equipment can all cause unsuitable floors to deteriorate.
At the same time, the surface needs to remain practical to clean, safe for the people working on it and appropriate for the hygiene requirements of the facility.
Central Flooring Services specifies resin flooring around these conditions rather than applying the same system throughout every food or beverage site.
That could mean heavy-duty polyurethane flooring within a wet production area, slip-resistant resin around processing zones or a durable epoxy system for packing, warehousing and dispatch.

FOOD RESIN FLOORING
Food Resin Flooring
Food production flooring needs to support hygiene procedures while standing up to demanding day-to-day use. Our food resin flooring systems can be specified around the cleaning regime, temperature, traffic, moisture and processes within each part of your facility.
Food environments we work in
Food Manufacturing
Meat & Poultry Processing
Bakeries
Commercial Kitchens
Cold Stores & Chilled Areas
Packing & Dispatch
BEVERAGE RESIN FLOORING
Beverage Resin Flooring
Breweries, bottling plants and drinks manufacturers create their own flooring challenges. Liquids and ingredients can reach the floor throughout production, while repeated cleaning, chemical exposure, pallets, forklifts and constant movement place additional pressure on the surface. Our beverage resin flooring systems are specified around those operating conditions.
We consider where floors are likely to remain wet, the substances they may come into contact with, how the area is cleaned, the level of slip resistance required and the type of traffic moving through the facility.

COMMON CHALLENGES
What Does Your Food or Beverage Floor Need to Withstand?
Wash-Downs & Cleaning
Food and beverage facilities may be cleaned frequently using water, detergents and disinfectants. The flooring system needs to be selected around the cleaning regime actually used on site.
Temperature Changes
Hot processing areas, ovens, chilled rooms and cold stores can expose flooring to significant changes in temperature.
Wet & Contaminated Areas
Water, oils, fats, food residue and beverages can affect both the performance and slip resistance of a floor.
Heavy Traffic
Pallet trucks, forklifts, trolleys and production equipment can create concentrated wear across production and logistics areas.
Chemical Exposure
Cleaning chemicals, ingredients and process substances should be considered when specifying the resin system.
RESIN FLOORING SYSTEMS
Resin Flooring Systems for Food & Beverage Facilities
Different areas of the same facility may require different systems.
Polyurethane Resin Flooring
Polyurethane screeds are commonly used in demanding food and beverage production environments.
Systems are available for areas exposed to combinations of intensive cleaning, moisture, mechanical wear, temperature changes and chemical exposure.
Best suited to: demanding production, processing, kitchen and wet environments.
Epoxy Resin Flooring
Epoxy flooring can provide a hard-wearing, seamless finish for areas where the operating conditions do not require a heavy-duty polyurethane screed.
Best suited to: packing, warehousing, storage, dispatch and selected production areas.
Slip-Resistant Resin Flooring
Texture and aggregate can be incorporated into resin systems where liquids or other contamination increase slip risk.
The finish should be chosen alongside the cleaning requirements of the area rather than simply specifying the most aggressive texture available.
Best suited to: wet production areas, wash-down zones and other higher-risk locations.
CASE STUDY
Food Production Flooring Project
800m² Hygienic Resin Flooring Installation

Central Flooring Services delivered approximately 800m² of hygienic resin flooring for a food-production facility.
The project used polyurethane flooring systems suited to different parts of the production environment and included floor preparation, falls to existing drains, self-levelling works and 150mm resin coving. Because parts of the facility needed to remain accessible, the installation was completed across six phases.
Area: 800m²
Environment: Food production
System: Polyurethane resin flooring
Key requirements: Hygiene, drainage and durability
Programme: Six phased installations
OUR PROCESS
Flooring Installed Around Your Production Schedule
For an operational food or beverage facility, downtime can be just as important as the flooring specification. Before installation begins, we discuss how the facility operates and when individual areas can be released. Depending on the project, this may include phased installation, defined work zones, overnight working or scheduling around a planned shutdown.
1. Site Survey
We inspect the existing flooring, substrate and production environment.
2. Specification
We recommend a resin flooring system around cleaning, traffic, chemicals, temperature and hygiene requirements.
3. Preparation
Existing coatings are removed where necessary and the substrate is mechanically prepared and repaired.
4. Installation
The flooring system is installed to the agreed programme.
5. Handover
The completed area is handed back with the relevant care and system information.
FAQS
Food & Beverage Resin Flooring FAQs
There is no single system suitable for every food-production area. Cleaning, temperature, moisture, chemicals, traffic and substrate conditions all need to be considered. Polyurethane screeds are commonly used in particularly demanding production environments.
Resin flooring can be specified to support hygienic, cleanable food-production environments. HACCP applies to the food-safety management system rather than certifying an individual flooring product.
Systems can be specified for areas subject to regular cleaning and wash-downs. Water temperatures, cleaning chemicals and the frequency of cleaning should all form part of the specification.
Breweries typically require flooring selected around liquids, cleaning, chemical exposure, operational traffic and slip risk. Polyurethane resin flooring is one system commonly considered for demanding wet production areas.
Where practical, yes. Flooring installations can be phased or scheduled around operational hours and planned shutdowns depending on the project and the selected resin system.
